With Love

Yes I am posting again, tentatively. Thank you Sorrow! And Polar, SO good to see you here, maybe when you see what I am going to post these days you may not come back. I hope you do. I cant seem to get a music widget though.

To explain the wolf picture above I meant to post this story-

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between 2 “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I love and adore this man. Yes I know he is controversial, radical  and the rest, but as someone who has- over  the years ( starting with Matthiesson’s banned but republished- in the spirit of crazy horse- ) read much about the injustices towards the native American and in fact all of the indigenous peoples on this planet, I am fully supportive of their cause.

Why?

Who knows. Maybe it is because my great great Grandfather was cleared of his land and my grandfather also was forced to move which is why I am not a native Gaelic speaker. Maybe because I feel shame when I think of the Calvinist Scots and the Puritans who invaded America-taking all that was inherently bad from here, politically religiously, physically- claiming the land as theirs and slaughtering the natives in the process. Only to do the same in other Colonised nations.

Maybe its because I firmly believe that peace is possible through a massive change in consciousness and that may happen in my life time and hopefully  it will come through communication, integrity, self awareness and people power, education, passion, love, change, rather than through control and fear, herd mentality, shallow self serving selfishness, greed, and sheer unadulterated ..headinthesandism.

I hope the right choice is made.  I know who I would vote for.

This we know; all things are connected like the blood that unites us
We do not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it
Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.~Chief Seattle

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.

Outstanding leaders appeal to the hearts of their followers – not their minds.

We have flown the air like birds and swim the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

The profit motive, when it is the sole basis of an economic system, encourages a cutthroat competition and selfish ambition that inspires men to be more concerned about making a living than making a life.

Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is force to confront the issue. It seeks so to dramatize the issue that it can no longer be ignored.

A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.

Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.
